The Company
My client a highly successful mid tier commercial contractor is searching the market for the industry’s most successful Senior Estimators. Having established themselves as a key player within the Melbourne construction market, this company has produced award winning projects across commercial, apartments, industrial and educational sectors. With the vision to grow the business they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Estimator with strong view to become the Estimating Manager in the near future to lead and manage their dynamic and reputable team.
The Position:
As a Senior Estimator your key responsibilities will include:
• The preparation of budgets, cost planning and estimations of projects
• The analysis of tender documents from clients to understand and determine specific requirements
• Identifying value added opportunities for tenders
• The analysis and recommendations construction methods and selection of subcontractors
• Developing and building strong rapport with Project managers, teams, stakeholders, and consultants
• Project risk assessments
• The development of contingency scenarios
To be successful in this role it is pertinent that you have the below:
• Tertiary qualifications in Construction, Engineering discipline
• 10 years Commercial Estimating experience
• Extensive working knowledge of the estimation process, production levels and industry rates in the local Melbourne market
• Industry contacts and networks with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors
• Proficiency in Microsoft Project package
• A thorough understanding of standard forms of contract, Bill of Quantities
• Ability to demonstrate a lateral approach to thinking, identify alternative options and provide solutions to all parties
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work across several project concurrently
• Scheduling / Programming experience
• Working to deadlines in a fast paced environment
• Proven experience in tendering commercial projects of $5mil to $mil in value
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues and stakeholders
• Possess leadership ability
You will be working as part of a five man team alongside another experienced Estimators pricing and constructing tender packages on a variety of projects within Commercial, mixed use, educational and retail. This role is seen as an instrumental part of their growth and success so the opportunity to move into an Estimating Manager is highly likely.
